Type 2 Diabetes (NIDDM) is inversely related with vitamin C level

Vitamin-CNew groundbreaking research on type 2 Diabetes reveals that Diabetes risk in middle aged and older men and women is inversely associated with the intake of vitamin C.

The study has been done by Dr. Nita G. Forouhi, at the Institute of Metabolic Science at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, England, and colleagues involving 21,831 healthy men and women of age 40 to 75. During the study, all the participants provide their detailed health and lifestyle information and also their blood samples, which the scientists use to determine the levels of vitamin C.

They found that the person having higher level of vitamin C circulating in their blood have 62% less chance of developing diabetes than the person with low level of vitamin C.

Thus concluding that Higher the intake of vitamin C, lower will be the chance of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
