American Diabetes Association informs that about 8% of U.S. population are diabetic. There are various forms of diabetes but all are related to malfunctioning of insulin secretion. Hence the tests involved to detect whether a person is diabetic are related to checking of blood glucose levels. If a person’s insulin secretion is not proper blood glucose level will also be abnormal.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. Nearly 85 to 90 % of all the patients with the disease suffer from from type 2 diabetes. It is also referred as late onset diabetes and characterized by insufficient production of insulin by pancreatic ß-cells or insulin resistance (reduced target-tissue sensitivity to the effects of insulin).
According to a study done by the Scientists of the Newcastle University, physical activity or walking helps the body to burn more fat and store sugar. And thus if Diabetic patients walk for more than 45 minutes per day then their blood sugar level could be checked without using additional drugs.
