Diabetes rate in US doubles in past ten years

Thursday’s latest news reports, that the number of diabetics in United States has doubled in the past 10 years, and this has given diabetes a shape of epidemic.

According to CDC, Diabetes was nation’s seventh-leading cause of death in 2006 with more than 23 million Americans having diabetes. The number of diabetics that has been diagnosed this year has become nearly 25 million, about 10th of US population.

According to the first state-by-state review of new diagnoses, the highest rates were in the South, with worst in West Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Puerto Rico.
