Depression increases the chances of death in elderly diabetics

Depression increases the risk of death in the elderly diabetics, this is what a new study shows in its latest research.

This research was done for a long period about two years by the scientists from the University of Washington involving 11,000 diabetic patients over the age of 65, with a mixture of patients who are suffering from depression and are not suffering from depression.

The researchers at the end of the study found that the patients who were suffering from depression even if treated with antidepressants still had a 24 percent increased risk of death compared to patients without depression.

Studies also found that depression increases the risk other chronic illnesses, central nervous system diseases and hormonal fluctuations which ultimately lead to death. Scientists say that the reason behind this is the lack of willingness to get cured.
