Cooking program for diabetes patients and families

As an attempt to facilitate diabetes awareness program, Eaton County MSU Extension is offering a new four-session cooking school. The session aims the diabetes patients, their family members.

Dining with Diabetes Series will meet, Tuesdays from 10 a.m.- noon at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 1519 Elmwood Road in Delta Township. The sessions will be held on Nov. 18 and 25 and Dec. 2 and 9. During these sessions, participants will learn how to prepare meals that are healthy, easy to prepare and taste good. Recipes will be demonstrated and participants will have an opportunity to taste each one.

Participants will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, exercise and how to understand common diabetes language. Each participant will receive a notebook with over 70 recipes and additional resource materials.

The school is limited to registration. To register, please contact the Eaton County MSU Extension office at (517) 543-2310. Deadline to register is Nov. 12.
