Students Rally to Create Awareness on Diabetes on World Diabetes Day
Star Health and Allied Insurance conducted a students rally to create awareness on diabetes in Chennai yesterday on the occasion of World Diabetes Day. The rally, which was flagged off by Director General of Police Mukherjee, saw around 200 NSS volunteers from various city colleges taking part in it.
As part of Diabetes Day, a free diabetic screening camp was conducted by medical personnel.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, V Jagannathan, chairman, Star Health and Allied Insurance, said that around 500 people across the State, including 150 from Chennai, were screened at the medical camp. The diabetes- screening included fasting plasma glucose test, cataract- screening, body mass index and general health check-up. The company was planning to initiate drug awareness programmes shortly.
