Patients With The Hereditary Type 2 Diabetes Are Not Aware Of It
On the eve of the Diabetes week, the national survey in Australia, has found that the most people with a family history of type 2 diabetes do not realize it is hereditary. The study by Diabetes Australia found that only 25 per cent of Australians know that family history is linked to the disease’s development. The survey has revealed these facts while doing a survey on the awareness of the disease on the occasion of the Diabetes week.
The organizers of the study, have suggested some tips to avoid diabetes and its related risks. In this context, we have the name of Angie Middlehurst, who says diabetes can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. She expressed her concern over the growing rate of diabetes in the whole world including Australia. She says that the disease is growing like an epidemic proportions all over the world.
“So it (type two) accounts for about 85 to 90 per cent of all people with diabetes. It’s certainly increasing greatly.”
Ms Middlehurst says not just overweight people that have diabetes. She added,
“Thin people can get type two diabetes. So even if you’re the son or a daughter of someone with type two diabetes and you’re healthy and well, you’re still at risk. So we’re trying to raise that awareness.”
